The Marine Park Junior High Band Program has enjoyed many years of excellence. Located in Marine Park Brooklyn, students begin their musical day at 7am, and often finish late in the evening! Students are taught their instruments from scratch in the 6th grade, and by 8th grade have several opportunities to thrive as young musicians!

Marine Park's Band Program is comprised of two Beginner Bands, two Intermediate Bands, a Symphonic Band (audition only), two Jazz Ensembles (audition only), and a Marching Band. We also have a comprehensive chamber music program, consisting of woodwind choirs, brass quintet, and several jazz combos.

Marine Park is host to the annual NYSSMA solo and ensemble festival, where the bands also perform for adjudication purposes. The Symphonic Band has seven straight years of "Gold Rating", and the Jazz Ensemble has two straight years of "Gold with Distinction" honors. The bands perform level 4 and 5 music, comparable to medium-advanced high school repertoire.

The Symphonic Band in 2006 was the only middle school band to perform level 5 music in New York State, receiving a "Gold" rating. The band is the first New York City Ensemble ever to be invited to the annual NYSSMA conference in Rochester, NY to perform a clinic to music educators from around the state. The Marine Park Brass Quintet won the Chamber Music at Lincoln Center Young Artist Competition in 2005. The school Clarinet Choir was accepted to perform in a masterclass with members of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in 2006. Our bands have won First Place honors in several competitions across the east coast. Our jazz ensemble is routinely asked to perform for Mayoral Events in NYC and local museums and parties. The band has performed in several clinics and demos at local universities, including Brooklyn College, New York University, and Hunter College.
